Division One President's Message
HARVEST DINNER AT OUR NEXT MEETING. Please note time change. Dinner will start at 6pm. Rosary about 6:45pm with meeting to follow. Please bring a dish to pass. Please plan on returning home with any leftovers.
Boscov Day is WEDNESDAY, OCT 21. The $5 coupon is good for 25% off most items in the store. The coupon will be available at the next meeting and at the store on the 21st. We keep the $5 for every coupon sold. Sell some to family and friends.
If you are planning on attending the November State Board meeting in West Point on Nov 14 please let me know. There is information in the emails I sent and on the State website. There is a “ Visitors Pass” that should be filled out prior to entering the gates of a military institution.
Sue Messina has accepted the Honor of being appointed the Veteran and Military Affairs Officer on the National Board for 2026-2028.We know she will do a great job. Thank you for your service.
Years ago a motion was passed to suspend the dues of everyone that had 25 years of consecutive membership. With the increase of national and state assessments, postal and Chieftain costs as well as the number of sisters that now qualify this benefit is no longer sustainable. At the September meeting the motion was passed that everyone will pay dues beginning in 2027 with the exception of those excused by the National Board. If this is a financial hardship for anyone an exception will be made.
Thank you to the Hooley Committee members, volunteers, bakers, raffle and gift card donors, it takes close to a village to make the event such a success. I will never go to a Hooley without thinking of our Sister Kathy Cronin who was the face of the Hooley for many years- I hope we did you proud.
This reminder is for anyone working with minors, in this organization it is mandated that you receive Protecting God’s Children training, Please go to syracusediacese.org/safe-environment to sign up.

Division Two President's Message
At the September meeting we draped our Charter on the passing of our Sister, Colleen Murray who passed on July 17, 2026, may she rest in peace.
It looks like we had another successful Half-way to St. Patrick’s Day Hooley. Thank you to all the volunteers who worked on this and to those who donated and attended. Again, thank you for supporting our Lottery, hopefully your check is in the mail!
Next up is our LAOH Fall Rummage Sale drop off day is Thursday, October 1st after 3pm, with sale days on Friday, October 2nd from 9am to 5:30pm and the Bag Sale on Saturday, October 3rd from 9am to 12noon. We are accepting seasonal clothing and items, and please no electronics, speakers, child car seats or cribs. If you’d like to volunteer to help, please let me know.
Our Shepherd’s Pie and Dessert Fundraiser is Saturday, October 10th from 4-6pm. Cost is $15 for take-out or to enjoy at the hall. You can sign-up at the hall or call/text 607.759.1820.
Please support the AOH Turkey Party on Friday, October 16th from 7-11pm, $7 admission and the Halloween Party on Friday, October 30th, starting at 6pm. Free admission, bring a snack to share, prizes, costumes are encouraged, but not required! DJ John Almy will be spinning his spookiest tunes.
Nominations for two AOH Board members, if you are interested in serving a 3-year term, please let me or any board member know no later than Nov. 5th. You can attend the open board meeting on Monday, October 26th at 7pm.
If you are interested in volunteering at the 2027 AOH/LAOH NYS Convention being held in Binghamton, please contact me.
There are still a few members who have not paid their dues which are now $35. Stop in or you can mail it with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: AOH Hall, 148 Main St., Bing. 13905, Attn: Cookie Luke.
The Irish History Contest is underway, the topic is “Beyond St. Patrick, St. Brigid, and St. Columcille, who are other Irish Saints that shaped and sustained Ireland’s Catholic identity?”
Don’t forget to get your Election Night Spaghetti Dinner tickets to support our LAOH Junior Division, flyer enclosed.
Save the date: Friday, November 6th at 7pm for a talk by noted architect Laura Lee Intscher, who will talk about the Ancient Art & Architecture of Ireland, free admission and desserts. We’ll have a signup sheet at the hall, please see the flyer.
Our next division meeting is Wednesday, October 21st , Rosary at 6:30pm followed by our meeting at 7pm. If you aren’t receiving emails about meetings/events, please let me know and I will add you to the list.

Join the LAOH Junior Division – Keep Our Tradition Alive!
Our Juniors give back! In September, members volunteered at Stable Movements/
I Can Ride, where they cleaned out the stalls, brushed the horses, cleaned up cobwebs, and spread hay in the paddock. Well done, Juniors! We are so proud of your hard work and commitment to serving others.

Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser will be held on Election Day, November 3, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. Tickets will be going on sale soon, so be sure to save the date and plan to join us!
The deadline is fast approaching to enter the 2026–2027 Irish Writing Contest open to students in grades 6–12. This year’s topic is: “Saints of Ireland”.Beyond Saint Patrick, Saint Brigid, and Saint Columcille, which other Irish Saints helped shape and sustain Ireland’s Catholic identity? We strongly encourage all our Juniors to participate! This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about Ireland’s rich Catholic heritage and share your knowledge through writing.
We are actively recruiting new members ages 5–18 who are Catholic and of Irish heritage. Junior members do not need to be related to a member of an AOH or LAOH division. Keeping our membership strong and growing is important, with the hope that our Juniors will continue their involvement as lifelong members of the LAOH. And there’s an extra incentive: Junior members who sponsor a new member will receive a special gift! Please help us spread the word and invite eligible young people to become part of our Junior Division.
The October meeting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday October 24th.Information will be forthcoming.
