JUNE 12th IS OUR 60TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY. All of our AOH and LAOH sisters and brothers are invited to celebrate at 8pm, John Tobias will be providing the music. Please bring a snack to share. If you have any pictures that you would like included in our album please bring them with you. I am still trying to complete my mission of including a picture of every president of Div 1.

WOMAN OF THE YEAR IS EILEEN ZEMEK. Eileen is very generous with her time and talents. She can be found working at the Hall at various events, church functions and in the community at Binghamton University and the Horse stables. She exhibits all of our tenets of friendship, unity and Christian charity. If you see her out and about please take the time to congratulate her. Many thanks to the organizers of this event, the food was delicious and the hall looked great.

Speaking of our Financial Secretary, Eileen, she is still looking to collect dues from some of our members. Dues are $35 as of June 1st. You can leave an envelope at the hall or mail it to 1960 Hawleyton Rd, Binghamton N.Y. 13903 Please include your dues card and a self addressed stamped envelope.

Recently a save the date went out about dedicating a memorial to Saint George. The dedication is 9/20/26 at 2pm. They are looking for volunteers to help with this event. If you have any interest, please contact Ms Burke at 917 857 3272.

Hope to see you at the Family Picnic on July 12 and the Golf tournament on August 1.

We are extremely lucky to have a hall for our meetings and events. In order to maintain it, we need our membership to support it. If you need a place for a family gathering consider renting it. If you need a place to meet up with friends consider using the hall. Invite friends to join as auxiliary members if they are unable to join as members. We are trying to draw people with monthly events like bingo, trivia and traditional music. Participation would be contributing.

Our Brother and Sister, Mark and Maureen celebrated their 50thWedding Anniversary. Congratulations! Hope the Lord blesses you with many more.

LAOH Division 2

Division Two President's Message

In April, we welcomed Ellen Cohen, Mary Johnson, Patricia McCarver and Molly Ryan; in May we welcomed Rita Ludwig and Virginia Thompson, we are happy to have you and look forward to your participation. At our meeting, Barbara Button and Betty Reyen were each presented with the Silver Award for 25 years as a member, congratulations Sisters!

Irish Heritage Night at the Binghamton Rumble Ponies was a little chilly, but the group that was there had a wonderful time. I’m thinking of organizing a game in the warmer weather, stay tuned.

Thank you Kate Hull for organizing “America Needs Fatima” on May 16 at Recreation Park and thank you to the participants and attendees. Our group photo is being sent to the Fatima Society!

We’re getting ready for our Spring/Summer Rummage Sale, drop off is Thursday, June 4 and sale days are Friday, June 5 (9-5:30) and Saturday, June 6 (9-12noon). A lot of work goes into this, so stop in, you never know what you might find (that you didn’t need, trust me, I can attest to that).

Our judges are working very hard in reviewing the essays for our LAOH Div. 2 Scholarship in Memory of Mary Curry, good luck to the applicants and the judges!

Cookie Luke is accepting payment for dues ($30), please send a check with your card and a self-addressed stamped envelope to the AOH Hall, 148 Main St., Bing., NY 13905 to her attention or better yet, pay at the June meeting, after June 1 dues will increase to $35.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, June 17 at 6pm followed by our annual indoor picnic, please bring a dish to pass and wear your favorite hat. This will be the last meeting as we break July and August. Look for emails as well as the Chieftain for stuff happening during those months.

Condolences to our AOH Brothers on the loss of Brother Gene Flood. Please continue to pray for our Sister and Brother Hibernians and their families, along with our men and women in the armed forces.

Congratulations to our graduates and good wishes for a Happy Father’s Day!

Yours in Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity,

LAOH County Board

Michele Talcott, President

I hope everyone is well and enjoying the nice weather. Our recent State Board meeting that was held on May 1,2 in East  Durham, NY was well attended by the County with 11 Hibernian sisters  attending. It was a great meeting. Our contributions helped Stuff the Bus  which was a fundraiser for the students and families of the Cairo Durhan  Central School District. Happy Father’s Day to all! I hope you all enjoy your time with family  and know that you are loved and appreciated. The next County Board meeting will be June 2, 2026, at 5:30. All in good  standing may attend. After the meeting we will announce the winners of the  Irish History Contest and awards will be given. Refreshments will be served.  Please come and help us celebrate the achievements of these young people. Please support the County Board for the June Lottery. It is greatly  appreciated. In our motto of Friendship, Unity and Christian Charity, Michele Talcott, President 607-349-8736

Our Juniors lovingly baked shamrock and heart cookies for our LAOH members who are homebound, living in nursing homes, or no longer able to drive. The girls delivered the cookie boxes before Mother’s Day, bringing smiles and warm wishes to many of our members.

The spring weeding and planting of the Memorial Garden in honor of Harper Stanz and Maddie Shaw at Recreation Park was completed on May 17. This continues to be one of our Juniors’ favorite service projects. A special thank you to Susan, Winnie, and Cait for helping, and to Bill Burke for repairing the sign. If you are in the neighborhood, stop by and enjoy the garden located near the George F. Johnson statue.

Our next community project, in partnership with the Broome County Council of Churches Youth Program, will take place on June 6, when the Juniors will help build a wheelchair ramp. This annual project allows our members to give back to the community while learning valuable carpentry skills and teamwork.

On June 9, our Junior Division will celebrate its 10-year anniversary. To mark this special milestone, we are excited to gather on June 14 with our families, former Junior members, and coordinators for a celebration honoring the past 10 years of memories, growth, and community.

We are actively recruiting new members, ages 5 to 18, for the Junior Division. We encourage our brothers and sisters to help spread the word by reaching out to eligible family and friends. As our girls age out, continued growth is essential to keeping our division strong and fostering lifelong involvement in the LAOH. For more information, please contact the LAOH 2nd Vice President or pick up an application at the Hall.
