Division One President's Message
Hope to see you all at the Hooley. Friday 9/18/26 at Celebrations on Park, 6 to 10 pm. See the enclosed flyer for all the details. Lots of hard work goes into the planning of this fun events-participation is appreciated. Mary Gilroy is the Chair for the raffle baskets and restaurant board. The board contains all kinds of gift certificates- restaurants, salons, retails stores, etc. If you know a business that may donate please reach out and ask for a gift certificate. If you have any gift certificates that you probably are not going to use, considering donating them. No sense wasting them. Questions or to drop off items please contact Mary Gilroy at Mgilroy1@stny.rr.com or 607 761 1992. You may bring the gift cards and baskets to September’s meeting if that is more convenient.
Friends Helping Friends Day is Wednesday October 21th. The $5 coupons will be available at the September and October meeting. This fundraiser is advantageous for the organization and the person who purchases the coupon. The $5 goes to the organization and the purchaser get 25% off most purchases at Boscovs. So get you Christmas shopping list ready. Maureen Reynolds will be passing around a sign up sheet to man the table at Boscovs to sell tickets for our Division.
Eileen is collecting dues for this year of last year. Please bring your dues card to the meeting or send the $30 check with you dues card and a stamped self addressed envelope to Eileen Zemek, 1960 Hawleyton Rd, Binghamton NY 13903
The 60th Anniversary Album is just about complete. If you have any photos you would like included, leave them at the hall in my mailbox at the hall. Please make sure everyone is identified. Last month I forgot to thank Barb Walling for her generous donation of a $100 catering certificate she donated toward the food at the party.
The AOH/LAOH Presidents Testimonial dinner is November 14, 2026. It is at the US Miliary Academy West Point N.Y. The honorees are Terry Meyers and Tom Beirne. The state board meeting is at 10am, Mass at 4pm and dinner is at 6pm.
Next meeting is 9/11/26. Rosary is at 6:45pm Meeting is 7pm
Please keep our military in your prayers. The 25th Anniversary of the events of 9/11 demonstrate how precious our freedom is.

Division Two President's Message
The summer sure has gone by quickly, I hope you had a great summer and I look forward to the fall and seeing everyone once again…
Congratulations to Mikayla Walsh, our 2026 Div. 2 Scholarship recipient in memory of Mary Curry. Thank you to Rosemary (Mary’s daughter) and Bill Collins for making the trip down and to the committee members for their work on this…
Our Lady of Knock Mass was held on Saturday, August 8th at St. Paul’s Church; thank you to our Catholic Action Officer Hollie Walsh for arranging the mass and Fr. Kirkman for accommodating us. Thank you to Kate Hull for informing the congregation on Our Lady of Knock and to Chef Patrick Walsh for dinner, as well as those who helped at the hall, it was a great team effort.
Congratulations to the AOH Men for another successful Golf Tournament, along with great help from volunteers and the weather was good.
Thank you for returning your lottery tickets in support of our September Lottery Ticket Fundraiser. Thank you to Colleen McMahon and Deb Kennedy for chairing this. Good Luck!
Our Missions and Charities Officer, Beth Mahar, submitted an Appeals for Aid grant for “Ramp It Up” to be reviewed at the AOH/LAOH National Convention, it was approved and they were awarded $1,000. Speaking of conventions, if you are interested in volunteering at the 2027 AOH/LAOH NYS Convention being held in Binghamton, please contact me.
There are a few members who have not paid their dues which are now $35. Stop in to the Hall with your dues card and check made out to LAOH Division 2 or you can mail it with a self-addressed stamped envelope to: AOH Hall, 148 Main St., Bing. 13905, Attn: Cookie Luke.
Friday, September 18th, Half-way to St. Patrick’s Day Hooley, advanced admission tickets ($18) are on sale now, if you want to purchase a ticket, please let me know as I have some to sell. Hollie has 50/50 tickets to benefit Stamp Out Cancer ($2) or you can buy them at the AOH Hall.
Our LAOH Fall Rummage Sale drop off day is Thursday, October 1st after 3pm, with sale days on Friday, October 2nd from 9am to 5:30pm and the Bag Sale on Saturday, October 3rd from 9am to 12noon. We are accepting seasonal clothing and items, and please no electronics, speakers, child car seats or cribs. If you’d like to volunteer to help, please let me know.
Our Shepherd’s Pie and Dessert Fundraiser is Saturday, October 10th from 4-6pm. Cost is $15 for take-out or to enjoy at the hall. You can sign-up at the hall or call/text 607.759.1820.
Our Irish Historian, Kelly Cole, reports that the annual Irish History Contest topic is “Beyond St. Patrick, St. Brigid, and St. Columcille, who are other Irish Saints that shaped and sustained Ireland’s Catholic identity?” This is open to students in grades 6 through 12, deadline is October 30th, please submit to kellyccole@verizon.net or TRACY13905@gmail.com.

LAOH County Board
As summer comes to a close, I hope everyone enjoyed the beautiful weather and spent time with their families and friends.
The Lady of Knock Mass was very beautiful and well attended. The dinner at the hall was very nice and a great way to celebrate.
The Hooley is approaching and will be held on September 18, 2026 from 6-10pm at Celebrations on Park Avenue in Binghamton.
Tickets are $18 in advance, $20 at the door and children 5-17 are $5 and under 5 free. Hope you all can come
The AOH Golf Tournament was a great success. Good food and spending time with other Brother and Sister Hibernians.
As Autumn approaches let us look forward to another year of living our motto.

Junior Division News
Join the LAOH Junior Division – Keep Our Tradition Alive!
A new school year is here, bringing new opportunities to learn, grow, make memories, and have fun together! We hope the year ahead is filled with exciting experiences, new friendships, and plenty of opportunities to share your Irish heritage and Catholic faith. We’re looking forward to another wonderful year with all our Juniors!
The 2026–2027 Irish Writing Contest is open to students in grades 6–12. This year’s topic is: “Saints of Ireland”. Beyond Saint Patrick, Saint Brigid, and Saint Columcille, which other Irish Saints helped shape and sustain Ireland’s Catholic identity? Visit www.ladiesaoh.com/contest for full contest details. Our next Junior Division meeting will be a volunteer activity at Stable Movements – I Can Ride. We will help at the stable on Saturday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. Location: 18 Smith Hill Road Binghamton, NY. We look forward to spending the morning together while supporting this wonderful organization!
Help Grow Our Junior Division: We are actively recruiting new members ages 5 to 18 who are Catholic and of Irish heritage. Junior members do not need to be related to a member of an AOH or LAOH division. It is important to keep our membership strong and growing, with the hope that our Juniors will continue as lifelong members of the LAOH. Junior members who sponsor a new member will receive a special gift!
We hope to see everyone on September 19th at Stable Movements. Bring a friend and help us grow our Junior Division!
